Grant Request Policy / Guidelines

I. Purpose Statement:

The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association's mission is in part to promote the advancement of the Therapeutic Recreation Profession and serve its members in this endeavor. The mission includes the Advertisement of our Association, T.R. efficacy research, education and promotional projects

II. Grant Criteria:

A. Availability: The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association's Board of Directors will determine on a yearly bases the amount of grant funding it will make available that year not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00).

1- The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association's Board of Directors may pre-set number (s) of grants available for that year.

2- The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association's Board of Directors may pre-set amounts for each grant request that year,

B. The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association Grants are made available to active members of its organization; ( see WVTRA By-Laws for eligibility).

C. The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association Grants must meet the requirements set forth in the purpose statement; (ex. serving T.R. needs in

the community via Education and/ or experience, Testing, Surveying public, Promoting advancement of T.R. services Legislative efforts to guidepolicy regarding T.R. services).

Note: WVTRA Grants shall not be made available for agency or facility programming or advertising solely. ( ex. community pt. / staff outings or purchasing ads for name use only).

III. Application Procedures:

A. Grant applications can be obtained on line from WVTRA's web site.

B. Grant applications must be completed and submitted for the year being requested. All applications must be sent to:

Charleston, WV 25325

C. The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association Grants / Awards Committee will review each application upon which all criteria being met.
(Application which are not complete will not be considered.)

D. The West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association Grants / Awards Committee will decide which grants they will recommend for the WVTRA's Board
to review for approval.

E. West Virginia Therapeutic Recreation Association Board President will notify Grants / Awards Committee which grants will receive the funding for that year.

F. Grants / Awards Committee will send confirmation letters and check to the requester within 90 days upon receiving grant applications.

( All grants and awards recipients will be listed on the WVTRA web site.)

Note: It is up to the requester to confirm whether their submitted grant has been received, if not posted on WVTRA's web site.
