Dan Ancone Bio
Dan Ancone first graduated from Central Michigan
University with a B.A. degree in Therapeutic Recreation and
later earned a M.A. degree in Recreation Administration with
an emphasis in therapeutics from Wayne State University in
Detroit, Michigan.
He was employed as the Activity Therapy Coordinator for William
S. Hall Psychiatric Institute, the teaching and training facility
for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health from 1985
until 2001. He is currently a Training Coordinator and Consultant
for the Department of Mental Health. He is a CTRS whose professional
activities include:
President, ATRA 1999-2000
Secretary, ATRA Board of Directors 1994-1996
Associate Editor for the ATRA Annual in TR 1993-1997
Guest Editor and Reviewer of the NTRS Therapeutic Recreation
Journal 1993-1994
Board member of the Southeast TR Symposium Board of Directors
1989-1996; Chair 1994-1995; Secretary 1990, 1992, 1993
Member of the NCTRC Item Writing Committee Exam 1989
Accreditation Surveyor for NRPA 1986-present
Chair of the South Carolina TR Branch in 1989
He has conducted over 300 presentations on team building,
quality improvement, and anger management, communication,
conflict resolution, assessment and group therapy at local,
state, regional and national conferences.
